Good Xmas shopping in London?

Owing to my local shopping centre losing too many of it's decent shops I'm planning on getting my Chrimbo gifts from London this year, but I'm not really sure where exactly to look. Can anyone recommend good places for Xmas shopping that won't make too big a hole in my (limited) bank balance?

Covent Garden is good for unusual things. It has the small shops (some of which can be a bit expensive), but also the market for cheaper items. Good luck.
Reply:Don't bother, it's a hideous nightmare... Tubes are packed, the buses crawl at a mile an hour, you have to fight for your two inches of pavement and most of the sales assistants are temporary and so haven't got a clue or at worst, surly beyond belief. I know, I live in london and work at a Central London Tube station. Hate hate hate hate it. Go to Bluewater or Lakeside, free parking and all under one roof so you don't have to worry about the weather. Less stressful, but the traffic can be a chore...
Reply:Bigger Tesco,s have a good range of low priced gifts, Maplins are good for cheep gadgets and tech toys, if your going to London I'd take the No 23 and 7 buses along Oxford + Regents Streets to have a good look at the shops before you commit.
Reply:oxford street, picadilly circus all the major shopping places in london..good places also try camden market whic i think is own thursdays or maybe sundays...check up on it
Reply:Oxford Street is like the seventh circle of hell in the weeks leading up to Christmas. What kind of gifts are you looking for? If you want the usual high street stuff, maybe try one of the smaller high streets, like Kensington, or one of the big shopping centres (Brent Cross, Bluewater, Lakeside).

For quirkier stuff, try Portobello or Covent Garden.
Reply:Well, I can't tell you about it but you have to know that in Christmas day, there is no tube servies. It is not good for shopper...
Reply:Why don't you go to Bluewater the largest shopping centre in Europe.. it's on the outskirts of London

Reply:Go to Milton Keynes Shopping Mall, everything under one roof with all the large shops you find in any large city centre.
