Online shopping, pro & cons?

I am planning on buying a laptop online for the first time, and im wondering about people opinions and past experiences with online shopping. The website im planning to shop from is Dell. Thank you.

Online shopping, pro %26amp; cons?
Online shopping has its problems. Sometimes you run into online stores that do not take back broken merchandise because the stores know you can't do anything to them because you are so far away. They figure you will give up if they put you on hold when you call. So, it is always smart to research the online store before you buy from them. Dell is fine, I never had problems buying from dell.
Reply:well i got a rly good ditigal camra from tirgerdirect.com and it came out fine... and it was cheaper than in the store...

i think online shoping is ok.. just depends on what site and who ur gicing ur credit card number too
Reply:Just remember there is no such thing as an absolutely secure website and my credentials for that statement are that my degree is in computers. I graduated with honors.

If you are going to purchase something from an online merchant, call your credit card number in to them, don't give it out online. It's far better to take the time to do that than to have it be the one time hackers got into their system.
Reply:I use EBay, but you just have to read seller's feedbacks very very carefully. The best way to do that is to log into your EBay account, look at their feedback page, then on the right there is a little box, look in there and go to 'last 12 months', then it will bring up a list of neutrals and negative feedbacks showng how many, you click on that line of negatives, and read all the negative comments in case they have ripped a few people off, and they sell lots, its too hard to browse through all the good feedback. But remember if they have lots of good feedback as well, perhaps its just silly customers who didn't read their listings properly. That's what I do!

But also remember, when buying electronics, buy from a reputable firm in your country! So choose sellers carefully, there are lots of wonderful sellers on ebay, prices are great too!
Reply:I love online shopping! I have not had any bad items sent yet, had to exchange a few things but that was it.
Reply:I just purchased a laptop from dell online. Recieved it last week. I was satisfied with the process.

the largest concern people really have is with the credit card. I'm assuming that is your concern as well.

Dell has a secure site for credit card processing and it's quite safe.

I have developed websites that do online credit card processing and know that a credit card does not have to be stored, so hopefully Dell's web programmers know this too and choose not to save your card.

But I had no worries when I made my purchase!
Reply:My sister in law has ordered online from Dell twice and has had zero problems.
Reply:go for it. as long as its not clothes, online shopping is fine!
Reply:Dell is one of those companies you don't really have to worry too much about they're pretty good at handling things...
Reply:That's where i got my computer from. They are great, had no problems
Reply:dell's on the way down... but, in general, I've been shopping online for years... the good:bad experience ratio is about the same as for traditinal retailers.
Reply:Firt off... Dell makes a crappy overpriced laptop, atm. Check out HP.

Online shopping is great. But don't count out Best Buy or Circuit City. Find the lowest price online, then call your local stores. Sometimes they have store rebates. Add that to the shipping costs you save, and you could come out ahead by buying local.

Newegg.com is one of my favorite online stores.
Reply:i think its okay to buy stuff online...just make sure that it would be cheaper to buy it online then in a store you can just get it from....also remember there's shipping and handling and you'd want to check out that price as well....you can try eBAY as well because i heard that you can get cheap prices from there....something bad about shopping online is you have to give your credit card number, and sometimes the people who have it can withdraw money from your card....(that happened to my sister)....it would not likely happen, but just be careful....

tooth ache
