Christmas shopping!?

I am going christmas shopping and I have no money or ideas. I am kinda good at picking out what they like but its pretty hard to shop when you have $8 for your 2 sisters 1 mom 1 dad and 1 stepdad and everytime I find something I want too. if you have any ideas for family members or how I can make lots of money in less then a month please respond.

Christmas shopping!?
Why don't you give them homemade gift certificates? For the adults you can give them a coupon for a hour's worth of babysitting, or doing extra chores or something. For younger sisters you can offer to teach them how to do something that you're good at.
Reply:try getting a job as Santa's helper as this isn't a hard job and it can be fun.
Reply:if you get an allowance, budget it so that you could save enough till you get your desired amount
Reply:Try to find dog or baby sitting jobs. I don't know how old you are, but if you know people that have dogs or pets offer to sit them while they run errands, etc. You can also start a dog walking business and let your neighbors/friends know you're raising money for getting your family Christmas presents. You can also make them stuff that you think they would enjoy and always put yourself last. Buy yourself something once you are finished getting everyone else something. Good luck:)

????????????is shopping dirt cheap in new york im thinking of going over?????????????
Shopping isn't cheap in NYC it's cheaper in New Jersey.
Reply:No. I bought a digital camera there, believing it to be cheaper than in the UK. I had to fight off a real hard-sell for all sorts of accessories I didn't want. Very unpleasant. Then I got home and found better cameras for a similar price.
Reply:I've lived in NYC all my life and shopped nearly everywhere, so I can tell you now that barely anything here can be considered "dirt cheap," unless there is an incredible clearance OR you are shopping at thrift stores, Conway, etc. Shopping in NYC, depending on where you go, can get pretty pricey!
Reply:it depends on which shops you go into. sometimes they are the same price as what you would get in london. you just have to be a bit wise.
Reply:no, it's expensive as hell. Why would you think it's cheap?
Reply:Right now our US dollar is in the toilet. For wedding shopping in the city check out Kleinfelds http://www.kleinfeldbridal.com/

Reply:Yes it IS!!! Its £2 to the dollar at the moment and also there is a GREAT department store called Century 21. My husband and I had to buy two extra suitcases to bring all our stuff back. Trust me if you get your stuff from there its really cheap - its like our TK Maxx but better full of designer and label stuff at cheap prices. I would say Maces and all those places are expensive you need to know where to go. Century 21 is directly opposite ground zero. Go to NY have a great time and HAPPY SHOPPING!!!!!!

Vegetarian shopping list?

I'm going grocery shopping.I'm kind of need of a shopping list and maybe easy some recipes to help me get started.I was wondering could give me a complete list of Fruits, Vegetables, Nuts, and other products I need. Thanks

Vegetarian shopping list?
I'd suggest:

- Whole grain pastas (make sure it's 100% whole grain)

- Whole grain organic bread (make sure it doesn't have "corn syrup" in the ingredient's list - I highly reccomend Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Grain bread - it should be in the freezer section of most large-scale grocery stores like Albertson's or Whole Foods or right on the shelf at Trader Joe's)

- fresh bananas, apples, mangoes, whatever fruit you like

- fresh broccoli, cauliflower, bell peppers

- onions, mushrooms, garlic

- frozen vegetable mixes - good for soup and stir-fry

- frozen fruit - good to add to smoothies or oatmeal

- a few trays of tofu

- tempeh, if available

- Almonds and walnuts

- Soy milk, almond milk or rice milk (enriched if possible)

- Spices and sauces! (Stir fry sauce, soy sauce, peanut satay sauce, all sorts of spices, it'll be useful in making food flavorful!)

- Dressings (whatever ones you like)

- Brown rice

- And, if you are not vegan, cheese, milk or eggs?

I would encourage watching http://www.theppk.com They have recipes, cooking shows online, etc. It's vegetarian cooking and it's absolutely wonderful.
Reply:Hi! Some great recipes can be found: Cookinglight.com, allrecipes.com, epicurious.com, foodnetwork.com ! Fruits and veggies are SO good for you, you should buy: strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, apples and kiwi! lots of antioxidants and health benefits. some good veggies are baby spinach, squash, tomatoes, broccoli, sweet potatoes, zuchini! You can buy your veggies frozen or fresh. Also, try making fruit smoothies with fresh fruit, yogurt and OJ! If you are a vegetarian, try boca burgers original vegan, they rock.

Shoe shopping in the warehouse district of LA, is anyone familiar with this place or anyother place like this?

shoe shopping with shops that allow you to haggle

Shoe shopping in the warehouse district of LA, is anyone familiar with this place or anyother place like this?
Yes, there is the garment district. You can take tour buses that take you down there. It's a bit over-rated, IMO. And I HATE downtown L.A. Go to www.downtownnews.com. That will give you a list of all the available forms of transportation to downtown LA.

Porn shopping?

have you ever shopped for porn movies and if you have what are the inside of the stores like? Also what are the people like that are in the store shopping?

Porn shopping?
They are regular people like me and you, a lot are couples not same sex but heterosexual. people just looking to spice up their love lives. the store is a regular store like a fye's or something except it's all porn and some toys, but nothing out of the ordinary, nothing magical.
Reply:SICKO! PERV! what kind of envoyment do you find out of watching this crpa
Reply:There's a porn store on the college campus so it's cool, it's mostly students working there (art students) really friendly. The girl answered all my questions. They had the latest movies playing on tvs, clothing racks, walls of 'stuff', and people offering help. There were couples there holding hands browsing the stuff, it was big and bright. Most porn stores seem real dirty and shady though. Don't go alone. I went with my friends and in the daytime.
Reply:I usually buy my movies out of catalogues but i have been into these stores they are just everyday people like you and I.

there are lots of interesting stuff in there too.
Reply:Like pinky said some of the people are really creepy but a lot of them are just everyday people that are often times embarrassed to even be seen in there.

It's healthy though as long as your not living there or hoping to pick up some crack ho.

Do be aware though that it sometimes also a hang out for some of the gay or bi crowd.

No offense meant but it is a fact.
Reply:They are wierd and creapy and you should stay away from porn. It makes a beautiful thing ugly.
Reply:the neat and organized, you know what's inside so you shouldn't be surprise by anything you see.
Reply:You shouldn't be scared of the adult movie store.

But if I were looking to buy any, I would avoid the ones with the preview booths.
Reply:Yeah. I have. Uhm...the inside of the porn shop's are pretty normal. All different kinds of people, all different kinds of ages. It's fun I think. The people are cool inside...this one time when I was 18 I remember this old gross mexican followed me and my girlfriends out of the store and followed us around town it was scary. We survived.
Reply:Like.. at a sex store? They're surprisingly really courteous and helpful, but maybe that's cause I'm a girl. I dunno about porn.. but I buy toys for my friends.. easiest ever birthday present.
Reply:Well, in movie places, like Blockbuster or some such place, there is a separate room for porns, and it is usually empty, every so often you will see someone, but they will barely notice you since it's "taboo" to be seen shopping for porn. I imagine it the same at adult stores too.
Reply:they are creepers
Reply:the people are normal... most of the time... its the same people you are grocery shopping with... my husband and i love sex shops and watching movies sometimes but were both very respectable people with jobs and kids. we just enjoy sex and theres nothing wrong with that.
Reply:The people are really creepy.
Reply:everythings ok normal just chill

!
Reply:When stationed in Germany, I went to lots of these stores. Just be chill about it and not be a spaz while you are in there. Don't be suprised if the cashier doesn't want to touch your hands when the money is being exchanged. (for obvious reasons).

Grocery Shopping Advise?

I have 4 kids and a wife. We spend $400 a week on groceries. One family member does Atkins and one does Weight Watchers and the rest eat pretty much what they want. We cut coupons which only results in us saving about $6 to $10 a week. I would like to take $1000 of this $1600 to $2000 a month that we spend on food and invest in a mutual fund or something. I don't want investment advise, I want shopping advise. My parents live in Michigan. When we shop there in a grocery store, I can take each item and place it on the belt and count 2,4,6,8.... and the total I come up with will be roughly my grocery total. In other words, the average price of a grocery item is $2. In Delaware, where I live, I have to use 5,10,15,20... to get the same estimated total. Moving is not an option. We've tried the Save-A-Lot stores and they sell mostly junk food and that is hard to do with the diets. We've tried BJs but the bigger items just mean the two boys not on diets, just eat more. Any ideas?

Grocery Shopping Advise?
The truth is this is something girls learn in home economics class. Things like eye level is pricey. Look low on the shelves to get bargains. Never shop hungry. 50% off is the same as 2 for one.

May I suggest stone soup:

1 gallon of water

1 tsp of salt

2 potatoes

2 carrots

1 clove of garlic chopped

1/2 head of cabbage

1 can of italian stewed tomatoes

1 lb of browned italian sausage

1/2 onion diced and cooked with the sausage

1 tsp basil

2 Pepperoncini

You may need to double the recipe for your size of family.

Eat it three meals a day for a week. It's an inexpensive meal that tastes great and is good for you. The difference between what you would normally spend and the cost of the soup goes into the mutual fund. Since the whole family sacrificed you should all benefit so make sure the fund is in everybody's name.
Reply:To eat one soup and save bucks sounds ideal, but all the answers from other users seem to work for me! Thanks.

Also, you can try to search Yahoo!Answers for some keywords like "grocery tips" or "grocery saving," and you will find more wisdom talk from others. Report It

Reply:Try find a place that sells in BULK!!!

Buying in bulk might cost alot AT THE TIME, but it will save u in the long run
Reply:$400 doesn't seem that much for a family of six.

Approach this from the other direction.

Draw up a budget, detailing all your outgoings for a month. I mean absolutely everything. From that you may be able to cut costs.

On the shopping front, draw up a detailed list of things to buy every week, and another for things you buy less often, and stick to those lists. Chop out all the stuff that you don't need. This means fizzy drinks, cakes, biscuits, etc. Where possible, buy in bulk (loo rolls, washing powder, cleaning materials, dried goods, Tinned stuff, etc), and always shop around for the best price, rather than go to the same place for everything.
Reply:I definitely agree with the simple hint of don't go shopping hungry. Go on a full stomach.

Lateley I've been going to this all recipes website, and learning some more easy, and tastey home-cooked meals, and I had this incredible experience while shopping at cost-co yesterday. I was perusing all of the dinners in one box items (which I usually buy a lot of) and I was thinking to myself, no, I could make that by myself, and it would probably taste better. I didn't buy any, and it was such a liberating feeling!

Diets can also be very expensive, especially with different family members on different diets, I bet that makes meal planning a bit of a pain. Is there anyway those two could at least get on the same diet?
Reply:Prefabricated food are soooooooooooo expensive. Do you cook homemade items ??

$400 a week sounds outrageous to me. I spend under that for a month for a family of 4 plus 5 pets. I am super frugal and know how to make a chicken last a whole week.

Always go with a list. Make that list out by having a calender at home with your menu planned out for a month. Figure what you will need to make these meals and check the cupboards to not double up in case you already have that certain ingredient! When shopping you can certainly go for more generic brands..of course some generic brands are horrible but most are sooooooooo close to the top brands and can save you alot of money. Don't be so picky !!! Kids won't know if you keep your mouth shut.

Lay off junk food and snacks for the kids unless fruit. Believe it or not a bag of fruit costs the same as a bag of chips and are 1000 times more healthy for your kids !!! Any thing prefabricated can save you alot of money if you ELIMINATE IT !!

I could go on and on... but then you will have a book to read here. I have taken clients shopping with a clipboard in hand and showed them how to shop but first had them show ME how THEY shop.... they saved an average of over a $100 on just one trip with me,

I am "Super cheap shopper woman" hear me roar !!!!

mew !

Good Luck and DON'T give up !!!!!!
Reply:Buy in bulk, shop right after you eat, make a budget for the purchase and don't exceed it. Exercise with the dieters, purchase an entertainment book (which has discounts on supermarket purchases).
Reply:grow your own fruits and vegetables. you might be suprised on how your kids respond. the taste of fresh produce is astounding.

you might even be able to cut cost on the sweets...

it is not very difficult. you don't know until you try it.
Reply:go shopping for groceries alone, and don't go on an empty stomach.
Reply:You have a big family so you'll have big bills. The best thing you can do is learn to buy in bulk and cook creatively. For example, when I make meatloaf, I add a can of black beans (rinsed). It adds fiber, flavor and extends the meat for little price.

Use a crock pot so you can get cheaper cuts of meat. Learn to make soup out of the leftovers. Get creative. For about $15 I can make 3 different meals out of almost the same thing. I get a whole chicken and roast it with veggies and have that for dinner. Then I cut off the extra meat and use 1/2 to make BBQ chicken sandwiches and reserve half for chicken soup. Use the whole carcas and all the veggies to make a nice chicken stock that you can add rice/noodles to, along with veggies and the rest of the chicken to make great soup.

Plan your menu in advance based on what's on sale that week. Typically the coupons correspond to the store sales so you can get double off. Take your menu and make a shopping list. Only buy what's on that list. If something that is a staple (canned tomatoes, paper towels, etc.) is on sale cheap, stock up then so the next time you need it you'll have it on hand.

For those who are on picky diets, if they were eating balanced, healty meals, they wouldn't have to be on a trendy diet.

Check at the book store to find cook books that offer great ways to stretch meals and get creative with the basics.

You can do it but it will take some effort and creativity.

Good luck!
Reply:Good question!

I buy off-brands and generics whenever possible.

Wal-Mart wil honor other stores flyers. For instance, if Marsh Supermarket has a sale on coffee, Wal-mart will sell it to you for that price. I don't have time to run around to 3 different stores to pick up one item.

I love the Dollar Stretcher website. It has excellent thrifty tips to help save money. www.stretcher.com

The way I grew up, we had a large garden. Almost everything we ate, we grew. We were very healthy %26amp; had the satisfaction of knowing it was organic and healthy.

I have a very small yard now and planted potatoes, onions and tomatoes as well as fruit bushes. It didn't take much time and we have enjoyed many meals with these ingredients. Vegetables are SO easy to grow. They are extremely healthy and low fat.

We buy our meat at a local butcher shop. We purchase a quarter of a cow. Purchasing meat this way is much, much cheaper than buying it by the pound at the supermarket. If you have a meat market close by, check into it. Our chest freezer is full of beef steaks and roasts for the price you pay for a week worth of groceries.
Reply:1. Join a wholesale store like Costco or Sam's.

2. Always go with a shopping list and stick to the list--no deviating for impulse items.

3. Many grocery stores advertise weekly specials and/or double coupon days. Shop at those times to maximize your savings.

4. Involve the boys. Make them shop with you and bring a calculator and scratch pad to keep track of the total. Make them aware that every extra dollar spent at the grocery store is one less dollar available for entertainment, etc.
Reply:Hey Bernie, to cut down expenses, instead of spending money on expensive diet supplements, why dont you just do exercise with your family members.

Also, before you go to the grocery make sure that you have your shopping list with a approximate price listed, those are not important must not include in the list. Bring only enough money to spend based on your shopping list. I think that way, you will avoid buying on things that are not useful.

Hope it helps!

Mystery Shopping?

I'm under 18 years old, but I need a job.

I've heard about Mystery Shopping..

Are there any Mystery Shopping Companies that 'WORK' (Are not scams), and you don't have to be over 18 to join??

This job sounds like something I would enjoy.

I would like to hear from people who have been Mystery Shoppers.

Thank you! -Jenna

Mystery Shopping?
I was a mystery shopper for about a year, the ones' they gave me to shop were like hardware stores and fast food places.

You have to be a real stickler for details. There are a lot of forms to fill out and questions to answer.

You have to use your own money and then they pay you back once they get all the forms are received and approved. If they don't like how you fill in stuff they wont' pay you.

I got check about every 2 weeks. My company had me mailing everything in, no online forms, just the jobs themselves. Try mystery-shoppers.com for information on various jobs.

Whilst shopping in tescos!?

Proof of what can happen if a wife or girlfriend drags her husband or

boyfriend along shopping.

This letter was recently sent by Tesco's Head Office to a customer in

Oxford :

Dear Mrs. Murray,

While we thank you for your valued custom and use of the Tesco Loyalty

Card, the Manager of our store in Banbury is considering banning you and

your family from shopping with us, unless your husband stops his antics.

Below is a list of offences over the past few months all verified by our

surveillance cameras:

1. June 15:

Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in people's trolleys when they weren't looking.

2. July 2:

Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals.

3. July 7:

Made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to feminine products aisle.

4. July 19:

Walked up to an employee and told her in an official tone, "Code 3" in

housewares..... and watched what happened.

5. August 14:

Moved a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area.

6. September 15:

Set up a tent in the outdoor clothing department and told shoppers he'd

invite them in if they would bring sausages and a Calor gas stove.

7. September 23:

When the Deputy Manager asked if she could help him,he began to cry and

asked, "Why can't you people just leave me alone?"

8. October 4:

Looked right into the security camera; used it as a mirror, picked his

nose, and ate it.

9. November 10:

While appearing to be choosing kitchen knives in the Housewares aisle

asked an assistant if he knew where the antidepressants were.

10. December 3:

Darted around the store suspiciously, loudly humming the "Mission

Impossible" theme.

11. December 6:

In the kitchenware aisle, practised the "Madonna look" using different

size funnels.

12. December 18:

Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed, yelled "PICK ME!" "PICK

ME!"

13. December 21:

When an announcement came over the loud speaker, assumed the foetal

position and screamed "NO! NO! It's those voices again."

And; last, but not least:

14. December 23:

Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited a while; then yelled,

very loudly, "There is no toilet paper in here."

Going shopping...advice?

Well its about that time to do grocery shopping for a month, and I have decided to eat healthier once again, now my question for all you health nuts out there is

-When you go grocery shopping what HEALTHY foods do you buy?

-Whats some good snacks to purchase that are healthy as well?

Thanks!

Going shopping...advice?
To tell you the truth, I have researched a lot of foods, and just because most think they are healthy, does not mean they really are. The only things I can really say are healthy, are fruits and veggies. Some types of cereals and stuff can be considered healthy as well. If you really want healthy, try for your favorite things that are organic. I'm sorry I am not much help, but I have tried to figure this out myself. Nothing seems to be healthy these days.

Eurodisney - hypermarket and shopping area?

hiya, booked to go to Eurodisney next march, and wanted information on the Hypermarket and shopping centre.

will be staying in Santa Fe, and have heard you can get ride to shops etc for 3 euro's, what shops are there, what is the hypermarket like??? is it like a local tesco, where you can groceries or is it like a wholesalers??

any info would be great.

Eurodisney - hypermarket and shopping area?
The Val d'Europe Commercial Center is a huge shopping area near Disneyland Paris. There are all types of shops there, from clothing and jewelery to music and electronics. Prices are all reasonable. There is a supermarket inside, but it's not exactly like a Tesco where you'll find a lot of pre-prepared meals and such. Just the normal groceries and such.
Reply:Loads of stuff....but can be expensive
Reply:there's an esso station near the santa fe for drivers but i'd say what you are talking about is the val d'europe shopping centre. on the way into disney you will see the train station, go one stop in the direction of paris and it'll be there. i forget exactly what it's called but there will be leaflets on it in the hotel.

Online shopping w/ CreditCard - Charge Back question?

What is the max time that you can claime a charage back on your credit card when you shop online?

I have heard in the past that it's 1 year for online shopping.

Please post link to an offical guides.

The card is Mastercard.

Online shopping w/ CreditCard - Charge Back question?
I don't have any links, but it depends on the company on what their policy is. Just like regular stores have a return policy timeframe.
Reply:I have no idea. The fine print on those notices they send you is where the answer is. You can also call the customer service number listed on your monthly bill. Best of luck!
Reply:Actually, the time frame is defined by Federal Reg Z for those of us in the US. The details will be spelled out on the back of your cc statement. If memory serves, it's 60 days from the statement where the disputed charge first appears.

I've posted a link to the Reg Z language below. It will be far easier to read the back of your cc statement. ;o)

Grocery shopping- Emotionally, mentally financially draining you?

I just got home about 2 hours ago from food shopping and I feel so wiped out. With browsing the stores, things not really where they belong and running one isle to the next to find things, with prices of things going up, people being rude and in the way, some even bumping you not even saying "sorry". What used to be an enjoyable chore has for me, become a emotionally, mentally and financial straining task. It is bad enough just getting there and back with the idiots on the road now days, but I get more tired when I come home from shopping than if I were to do a house full of chores, or working. Does anyone else feel this way?

Grocery shopping- Emotionally, mentally financially draining you?
I honestly thought I was the only one. I made the mistake of going to Wal-Mart last week, simply to save money because I hadn't gone grocery shopping in a while and knew I would have to get a lot. I HATE GOING for the reasons you described above...my husband doesn't get how draining it is for me to go in there. I usually just go to Publix and suffer the higher prices in exchange for a better experience...but yes. To answer your question, I come home in a horrible mood and just want to go to bed.
Reply:I totally understand what you are saying! I now order online supermarket shopping. It is wonderful. You click on what you want, they deliver. No more hassles. Check and see if this service is available by you. I highly recommend it.
Reply:Yuck, I feel the exact same way. I have one day a week dedicated to doing the domestic duties. First, I get all of my out of the house things finished, including grocery shopping. Then I open a bottle of cheap wine and focus on the house. By the time the bottle is empty, I no longer care how clean the house is! The secret is to rotate what you clean so everything gets done eventually.
Reply:Yep....I usually try to go with a list and early in the morning when I've got more energy and less crowds to deal with.

Errant shopping trollies! Do you always get one or is it just me?

I never fail in grabbing a trolly with a mind of it`s own/ Today i was so fed up as i needed to be back at P%26amp;S i paid for my shopping and on the way to the car the darn thing suddenly ground to a halt and wouldn`t move either way so i fettled it . I just left it shopping and all and drove home. Can you blame me?

Errant shopping trollies! Do you always get one or is it just me?
Ah yes, the trollies with a mind of their own! They can be quite stubborn and ornery. I have a wonderful discovery here in the states - online supermarket shopping. I sit at the computer, click on what I would like, the delivery arrives the next day, the delivery boy carries the bags onto my kitchen counter, and I am one happy camper.
Reply:No but there is a saying 'put your back in to it' and it applies to trollies.
Reply:They are awful you want to go one way and the trolley is determined to go the other way and guess who wins ,

Yes its the trolley its the stronger one
Reply:why didn't take your shopping out and take it back? or go and get yourself another trolley and swap?
Reply:I always seem to get the ones that make annoying squeaky sounds when you push them. Fun times!
Reply:OOh free food-where? .......xx
Reply:The problem is poor design and lack of quality build.

Also shoppers ram them into other trolleys due to bad driving.
Reply:it is just you
Reply:I always end up with a steering fault on it!!
Reply:Hello, That's always what the wife moans about shopping trolleys when she keeps me waiting in the car park thank you for setting her story straight i now know the answer like you leave them both in the car park cheers can you blame me!

Christmas shopping at goodwill??

Is it to taboo to do christmas shopping at goodwill when your on a tight, extremely tight budget? my fiance and I just moved in together and are working on getting married and having a baby so money is really tight and I dont want to go over board on spending for Christmas shopping this year, would it be wrong of us to be thrifty at this time of the year??

Christmas shopping at goodwill??
No, there's nothing wrong with trying to save some money...Goodwill %26amp; many other thrift stores have some really good stuff if you look...and yes, you can find a lot of great antiques and such at them...I wish you the best and Merry Christmas...
Reply:show some character.

it's okay to skip christmas if you can't afford it.

i haven't bought a single steak this month, because, well... it's not in the budget.
Reply:I could never bring myself to do it. There are bargains all over the place where you can do your Christmas shopping on a tight budget.
Reply:I think that you might just find the right thing for all your Christmas list. The old adage about the "It is the thought that counts!" is true here too.

You will be careful to choose something that the person will like and use. You will be cautious to make certain that it doesn't look "shop-worn" so....I say... go for it!!

And at the same time, you are supporting the Goodwill folks(always a good thing) and recycling(good for our planet!)

So!

Yes! Yes! and Yes!
Reply:Do it. The month of Dec is the best time to shop at Goodwill. People who get Christmas presents they don't want will just give it to Goodwill. Also, a lot of people donate to get the receipt for their taxes before the end of the year. My friend worked at Goodwill for a few years and has seen all kinds of brand new items come in. I've bought CDs and DVDs still in the plastic, a TV that looked like brand new (with a remote), clothes with the tags still on them.
Reply:Not at all. Always keep to your budget. If you go overboard, they will only think you can afford it. They won't know your situation.
Reply:That is a great idea. This year, I decided to travel to see my friend in another state at Christmas. I told everyone I would not be spending a lot on Christmas. My family was so understanding and said, "don't get us anything." I told them I WAS getting them something. I am going to bring back gifts from another state that they would not be able to get where we live. There won't be elaborate gifts but I will have fun with it. You can have fun with it too. The goodwill is a great place to go.
Reply:I think it would be better just to tell your relatives that money is tight and you will not be giving presents this year....or give homemade cookies, etc. but don't buy at goodwill.
Reply:It is not taboo and anyone else who tells you otherwise is narrow-minded and stupid. Whatever happened to the old adage: "It's the thought that counts"? I have never Christmas-shopped at Goodwill but that's because of reasons different from yours. They do carry brand new items and like-new items; you just have to have a keen eye for the stuff. Not everything that goes in the store is ratty. They have a "quality control" thing going on and yeah, sometimes bad things still end up on the floor but that shouldn't stop you from going there altogether. And the stories about all of the items not being clean is bull. You could just as easily catch whatever it is people are claiming you could catch from Goodwill stores at the mall. Plus, there are plenty of wealthy people who donate to Goodwill so you could very well end up with a nice item. If you're on a tight budget, do not let anyone stop you from doing what you have to do in order to keep that from worsening. Money is hard to come by nowadays and your loved ones and friends should be more than happy that you got them presents. They don't have to know where they came from, just as long as they came from the heart.

ETA: Goddess of Laundry beat me to the whole adage thing, hehe. But anyway, I hope you get the idea! Oh, and Goodwill isn't your only option. There are plenty of good sales going on at the mall, at plazas, everywhere. They've got $50 shoes going at $5 at some boutique stores over here, so you might want to try your luck where you're at.
Reply:Go for it. They even have gift cars now. hahaha
Reply:good will stores are great! I even take things left out side the box's when someone is too lazy to put them in the box. Besides that i clean them up and give them away to needy people.
Reply:There is nothing wrong with being thrifty just make sure what you buy is in excellent condition. A lot of times you can find some really good stuff that looks brand new at Good Wills and Salvation Army stores.
Reply:I'd say don't buy at Goodwill for a different reason. If you can find another thrift or consignment shop, go for it. But the money you give Goodwill doesn't go where it's supposed to. If you don't care about that, then go ahead and shop there, wisely...you CAN find some awesome stuff there, if it hasn't all been bought or stolen by the employees. It also really depends where the Goodwill is located too, how awesome and in good shape the stuff is....
Reply:I think that maybe instead of Goodwill you should try to make something for people you love. It is cheap and means more than a nasty old pair of jeans. Maybe make a nice scrapbook for someone with pics of you and that person.. or some tie blankets... or maybe just bake a whole bunch of goodies. These things show that you are spending time on the person...

Specific shopping in Sydney....??

I've got specific shopping questions.

Firstly is there a shop somewhere around central Sydney where you can buy cheap(er) quality make-up? I mean like a parallel import store or an outlet store.

Secondly, around central Sydney where is a good place to buy gourmet foods especially cheeses (goat cheese, camembert etc.)??

Also what days are the Paddington markets open??

Thanks for your help :)

Specific shopping in Sydney....??
The answers above are perfect, what I would have given as my first option! I'll expand:

Cheaper quality makeup: Priceline, there is a huge store in Pitt St Mall (opp the Myers), also one in Broadway Shopping Centre (highest floor, around the corber from Target). Alternatively, try pharmacies, they usually have cheaper brands of makeup (but they will cost less in Priceline). Also Price Attack (again, there ins one in Pitt St Mall, go in the Centre Point tower building, food court level, opposite the Maccas).

Try Kmart/Target for cheap make up also. You woould usually find these stores in shopping centres (closest to te cbd is probably Broadway shopping centre, it has both).

Gourmet Food, def David Jones. There is a specialty cheese store also in the GPO (Martin Place, look for the old post office-really huge building near asx-downstairs in the food court).

You could try Leichhardt (catch a 436/438 from the city or anyone that goes down Parramatta Rd and walk to Norton-ask the driver where to get off) it's very close to the cbd (about 10 mins on the bus). Norton St has many deli type Italian stores. Try the Norton St Grocer located in the Coles Building on Norton St, bottom level. Just ask. If you are in the Bondi area, they have a Norton St Grocer in the Westfields but it tends to have less variety.

Not sure about Paddy's, just google it!

Good luck
Reply:If you meant Paddington Markets, on Oxford Street, as opposed to Paddy's Markets near Haymarket - it's on Saturdays only from 10am to 5pm. It's a lot nicer than Paddy's.
Reply:There is a shop near Town Hall Station (first stop into Sydney from Central) which sells really cheap make-up. I don't know the name of the shop but it is next door to Woolworths Metro, and they are always using a speaker system to tell you their low prices. $1 for toothbrushes, etc.....
Reply:David Jones food hall has a very good range of gourmet food.

http://www.davidjones.com.au/services/fo...

Opening times for Paddy's market located in Haymarket are

Thursday to Sunday and Monday public holidays.

http://www.paddysmarkets.com.au/opening_...

As far as buying make-up I don't know of any outlets in the city. Myer or David Jones would have to largest range to choose from.

Memo shopping pad/board. WHERE to buy?

I'm looking for a memo stainless steel clip shopping pad/board with a pan holder to put on the wall in the kitchen. That kind where you write you shopping and then you can take that paper with you. I've search the net for hours, but no luck. Would anyone know where to look?

Memo shopping pad/board. WHERE to buy?
Woolworths or some sort of pound shop
Reply:you can get them at "the works", i have also seen them in the pound shops, if you haven't got these shops, make your own, with a cork mat and a cheap writing pad,put some double sided tape on the back of the pad and stick it to the cork tile, put a clip on for your pen hey presto done
Reply:Ikea have a great selection on sale at the moment.

Online shopping a greener option ?

hi do you think that shopping on line is better than shopping on foot

Online shopping a greener option ?
Yes, because you save gas, less chance of an accident, and you probably save money because you don't buy other things you don't need.
Reply:no

because the individual item(s) have to shipped directly to your door. Each supplier may use a different carrier, that carrier may well have to do a lot of miles to deliver your parcel. Each item/parcel will have to be individually wrapped and packaged to survive the trip

Modern retailing logistics is pretty efficient, they deliver bulk loads from central warehouses to individual outlets. so there isn't a lot of wasted fuel in the delivery chain, there is little or no one way packaging used in logistics, most deliveries are made in pallets or cages.. CO2 per mile per item will be dramatically less than a parcels delivery van.

Mind you it depending on where you live, how you get to the shop. if your shopping trip involves transport (public or private.. its irrelevant) then the scales may tip the other way.. it may be 'greener' to buy over the net.

but you don't define greener..... a wonderful adjective with many meaning to many people. So Im assuming you mean in terms of carbon footprint
Reply:Greener for your pocket maybe but not for carbon footprint.

The product still has to get to your door and i don't think Mr Argos will walk on foot on carry them to you
Reply:no because you're using electricity whilst being online. Then there's the shipping which will cause environmental damage, and then there's all the packaging, most of which is usually non-recyclable.

Everyday shopping online?

Does anyone know good, average cost, shopping online? I'm house bound and no one to do it for me. I need something like walgreen. com, which I use now except something I use they don't carry. I need things just like weekly shopping, not fresh food, cleaning, personal stuff, canned food, etc, Not EBAY or AMAZON, thanks

Everyday shopping online?
Many supermarkets now have a home delivery service.

Look into that.

Good Luck.
Reply:I use melaleuca.com to get everything but food and tp. I signed up and get points back for everything that I can use to get more stuff for free. This month I got back $97 to use toward more products. They ship to you and you can even plan your purchases, payment method date to submit order all in advance. Plus the products are nontoxic and are great for people of all skin types. The best thing of all is the cleaning products help repel future dirt and stains and so cleaning is easier than ever. Water spots can just be wiped of chrome faucets after the first cleaning until the next cleaning.

Love this stuff. It is child and pet friendly too.
Reply:well all big food stuff stores and general good stores can deliver your purchasings to your door step...friend why not to check for that.
Reply:I see it a lot when I'm browsing Yahoo Shopping. I think it's called www.drugstore.com I think CVS has a website too. CVS is a large chain of drug stores.
Reply:I know Stop and Shop has a program, I believe it's called peapod, which lets you order food online and then have it delivered. I've never used it, so have no idea of pricing, etc. Good luck!
Reply:walmart.com,k-mart.com
Reply:Check out your local grocery stores. Here in Des Moines we have some that deliver as well. What about Target.com, etc.?
Reply:have you tried safeway. They deliver to you and they have almost everything.

Is Shopping A Reasonable Substitute For Sex?
Indeed it is... I haven't been getting "it" for almost 4 years... You can call me a "mall rat" now... Hahaha...
Reply:i gues it can and the shopping spree probably woudlnt cost as much as sex does for me ( heehehe)
Reply:No! I'll just leave it at that!
Reply:Shopping = Good
Reply:It's a good prelude to sex.
Reply:All I'm going to say is I'm glad you're feeling better, I hope the rest of your weekend is good to you too.
Reply:Now wait. Shopping with the kids. No!!!! I'll take the sex first. Shopping without the kids ~ YES!!!! My kids are grown but I remember the days of taking two smalls boys out shopping, no fun at all!!!! I'd rather be buck naked enjoying some decent sex. Then I'd con my Hubby into babysitting and I'd go shopping by MYSELF!!!! See, there is more than one way to skin a cat!!!!
Reply:No, it is not a substitute for sex.....but it's a reasonable substitute for psychotherapy!!!!!
Reply:I guess you CAN substitute shopping for a good romp in the hay, but WHY?

I am sure, with your looks, you are able to attract as many guys as you want... shop away, but don't stop shopping for that target guy.
Reply:To tell the truth, I hate to shop but if it works for you then go for it. Don't worry, Be happy:)
Reply:Oh, I remember the days where going shopping didn't include buying toys instead of things I want! When you got the money to shop till you drop, it is better! Especially if you find a good bargain!
Reply:LOL glad you had fun=:%26gt;) I honestly haven't bought anything for myself since I had my son...He will be two in June.

Watch out for scam at shopping centre?

scam at shopping centre

A "heads up" for you and any of your friends who may be regular

customers at naas shopping centre.

Over the last month I became the victim of a clever scam whilst out

shopping. Simply going out to get some bits and bobs has turned out to

be quite traumatic.

Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you!

Here's how the scam works: Two seriously good looking 18 or 19 year old

girls come over to your car as you are loading your stuff into the

boot.

They both start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex, with

their cleavage almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. It is

impossible not to look. When you thank them and offer them a tip, they

say "No" and instead ask you for a lift to another shopping centre.

You agree and they get in the back seat.

On the way, they start having sex with each other. Then one of them

climbs over into the front seat and performs oral sex on you, while the

other one steals your wallet.

I had my wallet stolen on May 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th,

17th, 20th, three times just yesterday, and very likely again this

upcoming weekend as soon as I can buy some more wallets

Online Shopping?

Im just starting to shop online, and I wanted to know when shopping online, can you use those (prepaid) visa (master card etc.) gift cards or do you HAVE to use a credit card issued to your name and everything?

you can use that at http://www.wtburton.com

Why not get paid real money to shop and share the advertising commisions unlike Amazon and the like who keep it to themselves

FREE - NO OBLIGATIONS - DON'T MISS OUT
Reply:The gift cards only apply to that store(when you purchase that card from there). If you are feeling unsafe about your credit card....use a gift card . Having a bank issued credit card is best bet when online shopping.......Use Yahoo Wallet or PayPal in addition. You would have to look for stores that only use these two payment methods though. Many online store are converting their websites to use PayPal as a security device.
Reply:Yes, you can use either or. If you have to use a credit card, do not worry - any reputable store is going to have a secure connection: your details will be safe. If you shop online, make sure to sign up to get free rebates and cash back. Check out http://www.myshoppingrebates.com/ to see how.
Reply:Yes, you can use the visa gift card online as you would use a Visa credit card but there are additional steps you have to take.

The issue with using Visa (or any other Bank Issued) gift card online is that there is no verifiable address associated with the card. When buying things online, most merchants want your billing address to match the address on the card you are using.

To be able to use the gift card online, Visa recommends that you go online to register your gift card with the merchant/financial institution that issued it and add your name and address to the card so that when you use it online, the card will match the name and address you provided for billing.

So, once you have registered your card with them, you can use it online just like you would use a Visa credit card.

However, there are some online merchants that will accept a Visa credit card but will not accept a Visa gift card used as a credit card. So, if you have registered your gift card with Visa and it is rejected online, then it means the merchant does not accept Visa gift card used as a credit card. Most online merchants will not tell you this and you only find out when your Visa gift card is rejected.

All the above also applies to Mastercard or Amex gift cards. I just used Visa as an example.

Mystery shopping?

has anyone been a mystery shopper

is it fun?

i want to try mystery shopping after i have my baby in a about two months, not right away but a little after, because it will be easy on me until i get my energy back and on my feet to be able to work, just for some extra cash, and i would be able to take the baby with me to most of the shops.

does it seem like a waste,

does it take more effort than its worth

do you even make money off these jobs.

Mystery shopping?
Mystery shopping is fun, but you are not going to get rich from it. Once you complete an assignment (or "shop" as they are also called), you will have to enter in a report, usually done online. Some reports are very simple and may only take a few minutes to enter, while others are more time consuming and require a lot of narrative. With some shops, you are given a fee, and others are reimbursement only. You would have to decide if it was worth it to you to complete that specific shop.

If this interests you, then I suggest you start now to sign up for companies since it can take a while for them to accept you. It also depends if they need shoppers in your city. If they do, they will probably accept you sooner. But, if they already have too many shoppers in your city, you could be waiting a while to work with a company.

There are MANY ms companies out there, so I would suggest to apply for several. You won't get all your jobs from just one company.

Also, NEVER pay for mystery shopping! There are some companies that say if you pay them, they will send you a list of mystery shopping companies to apply for. DON'T do this!! You can find the same companies on the internet if you do a search for mystery shopping!

I hope this is of some help to you. Let me know if you have other questions.

Good luck!
Reply:a scam. u use your own money just to get your money back. they make you lie in some businesses. a waste. been there done that Report It

Reply:You are sadly mistaken - It is not a scam it is a legitimate Business and I happen to enjoy it! Report It

Grocery Shopping in Klagenfurt Austria?

I am interested to find out any information on what the shopping (regular every day and grocery shopping) is like in Klagenfurt Austria. What types of products, famililar brands etc. are available and what are the price like?

Grocery Shopping in Klagenfurt Austria?
I have been to Austria twice, not to Klagenfurt...but to Salzburg. And all I can say is that in the supermarkets you can find almost anything you want...the brands might be different, but there are plenty of products available. Supermarket shopping makes a great, cheaper alternative to dining out every night!

Prices are not too bad, not as bad as in Switzerland.

And remember, they do not supply a free bag for your groceries. You must either supply your own or buy one.

I recommend you take 1 or 2 calico or similar bags with you.

Have fun.

Paid Shopping Jobs????

What does everyone think of them online paid shopping websites are they fake??

Or is there any good shopping true sites out there that really do pay as I'm from Australia.

Paid Shopping Jobs????
I'm not sure about Australia but I am a "mystery shopper" and I love it and the sites that I work for are not scams.

www.experienceexchange.com (if you sign up please give me credit shopper675442)

www.shopnchekshopper.com (same here, 518725)

www.gapbusters.com

there are scam sites out there so be careful

P.S. NONE of the sites I work for require you to PAY before you shop, that is a BIG red flag.
Reply:i would tell anyone to try out www. cashcrate .com/284613 as it is the most legit (not a scam) and it makes u the most money. Enjoy making money with cashcrate.

Report It

Internet shopping help... !!!?

hi everyone have you done shopping through internet by your c.c is internet shopping safe u know providing confidential info.over net...?can any website be trusted?thanks in advance.cheers..!!

Internet shopping help... !!!?
Studies have been done and say it's as safe as shopping in a store...

However, there are good stores and bad stores in the street .. so the same will be true on line.

The main thing to do is try to stick with reputable shops.. like amazon, best buy, etc...

Also, you want to make sure that ANY transaction you do online is going over a secured internet channel.. meaning that it is httpS (not just http) in the address bar... and there should be an icon on your browser that shows up that looks like a padlock to also let you know it's a secure connection... you can click on the lock and get the security certificate information too... I realize you may not know what I am talking about and I say it in the hopes you will google this until it makes sense as it is quite important and too hard to explain in this short page...

the basic idea though is that SSL (https) is a tunnelled communication that is encrypted.. so noone can see the content of your transaction if they were sniffing the data on the line (like sitting in the middle listening in)... makes a little sense?

All data you send over the internet is sent in CLEAR TEXT unless it is using a secure SSL / encrypted protocol.... even your emails...

NEXT... you also have to consider who you are giving your credit card information to and what security precautions they take on their backend... meaning are their servers secure from hackers? are their employees trustworthy and do they have controls in place to ensure some upset employee cannot take your data?

Most likely a large site like an amazon or an ebay (who were hacked long ago, yes, both of them) have learned their lessons and can afford to take the security precautions to protect their own servers and the databases that store your information. Most people don't think about this when doing business on line.

Also, make sure you are securing your own computer as much as possible so that you are not vulnerable to spyware and viruses that may steal your information...

I always recommend that people have windows updates automatically downloading the security patches...

I also always recommend using antivirus / firewall / antispyware from a RELIABLE vendor (like a mcafee, norton, etc) and making sure your subscription is up to date so you are automatically downloading security updates and that you have taken the time to properly configure the program.. AND that you've taken the time to learn how to deal with the program when it alerts you.

This and good browsing habits, basic computer maintenance, and security awareness.. will keep you safe (as safe as can be) ... that was probably more than you wanted but I think your question deserves a complete answer.

Good Luck
Reply:You need to make sure that the web page that requests personal and credit card information is a https:// page (the "s" at the end is for secure) as opposed to the typical http:// page. You see this in the address line at the top of your browser. (Internet Explorer or Firefox, for example)

You also do not want to save your personal data on your own PC as if you are hacked it will be available. Often you are prompted to save or not save your information. You should choose not to.

Some people wisely use a credit card with a very low credit limit on it for internet purchases in case it's phished (stolen electronically). That way the most someone can run up on it is the low credit max.

I think transmitting cc info via cell phone is just as risky as the internet, as cell phone transmissions can be intercepted too. What about giving your card to a restaurant patron who walks away with it and returns it with your bill? There are lots of ways to steal credit card info. I've been using mine on the internet for over 10 years and have never had an issue.
Reply:For you trust a site you have look at a few things

1. See if they use 'SSL'. It is lock icon that appears on the bottom right. Beside the globe in IE.

2. See if they have verisign, or paypal or anyother trusted payment options

3.If you can call the people who are going to sell you the stuff nothing like it...

4. But if you can avoid it ..thats the best!!!
Reply:yeah,its safe! ebay.com is good
Reply:yes it is safe , I never had any problems
Reply:Yes. I shop on the internet frequently. However, I only use the big boys! i.e. QVC; Amazon.com; Overstocked.com; - like I said the bigs! I would not trust my cc to smaller companies.

Mystery shopping w/ bestmark?

does anyone have any experience as a mystery shopper with bestmark.com? i am not looking for your general opinion of mystery shopping, or shopping with other companies. i only want to know about experiences with this company specifically, so unless you know about them don't respond.

Mystery shopping w/ bestmark?
There a good company. I personally dont shop with them anymore because they dont have many shops in my area.

P.S. dont be so rude with your words. Sometimes people explain or give there opinion to clarify there answer.

Like two new pairs of pants. (( I'm the youngest. I usually get hand-me-down pants, which I don't mind at all. ))

Hoodies/Sweaters, 'cause I always hate the ones I got last time in a year. %26gt;_%26gt;;;

I don't know anything the mall in New Jersey, though, sorry.

I do know I love stores like Wet Seal.
Reply:School supplies, mostly at Walmart so it's cheaper.

And i look at my closet, and unless there's some specific item of clothing i need, then i dont really get new clothes. It just depends. Sometimes i'll get a new top or 2.
Reply:shirts, blouses, socks, jeans, pants, backpack, school supplies, locker accessories, etc.
Reply:Don't get me involved in this. Everytime my (now ex-) wife and daughter went shopping for back to store clothes I'd head of the hills. No way they were going to rope me into that.

Mystery shopping?

Ive been really interested in mystery shopping for awhile now. The problem is, all the online sites seem like frauds. I was told once that you should never have to pay a fee to become a mystery shopper and every website Ive found requires an upfront payment or some sort. Id like to here from anyone whos actually done mystery shopping, how did you get started and did you have to pay anything to start? Anything else I should know?

Mystery shopping?
There are agencies that don't charge a fee, and they will be local to YOUR city - look in phone book. Problem is, don't look to this to support you. You will go for lunch here, dinner there, maybe just a couple of drinks, or small purchases of crap you may not even need or want. Or pretend to rent an apartment. Maybe get a haircut. And there is not enough pay to provide you a weekly fee you could live on or even be worth the interruption to your day. Maybe the solution is to get on with several different agencies. I gave up because I needed a real job.

Surveys are a scam too unless you want to spend a zillion hours racking up bogus "points" or getting like $1 or $2 per.
Reply:I use Trendsource, and I get 50.00 or so a month, and I've never had to pay them anything. Report It

Bra shopping...?

I'm 17. All my friends go bra shopping and they can buy really cute bras. They are all B-C cups and all the shops have cute bras for that size. But my cup size is D-DD.

I'm not over weight or anything and I'm not looking for attention or compliments. I actually hate the size of my breasts.

I live in New Zealand so we don't have Victoria Secrets or any of those brands. It really sucks. The bras that do fit me are the yukky old people bras or really boring black and white ones.

I actually get really upset and I've tried exersizing and I've lost weight but my breasts haven't changed size!

I have a few cute ones but they don't fit me properly and I know it's bad to wear them when they don't fit. I've been measured and everything.

Is there anything I can do (except a breast reduction)?

Thanks

Bra shopping...?
Well, even though you don't have access to stores like Victoria Secret you can always order from a website...Or if your feeling creative you can add frills or little bows with fabric glue or a needle and thread. Another way to get a cute look is to get fabric dye found at a craft store and dye plain old white bra a vibrant color ;) Even though these ideas may not work for you their has to be SOME cute bras that you can find in your size and when you do try to get all of the colors and varieties when(IF) you find them so that you always have some in reach!
Reply:Order online.

Reply:do a lot of push ups and pectoral exercizes. you need to target loosing fat in your chest area, instead of loosing weight in general
Reply:if you are able too start lifting weights to build your upper body with muscles also work your lower half as well as your abs you will loose some of the tissue which makes your breast up;..IT DOES NOT MAKE A WOMAN LOOK UGLY EITHER;... i find women who body train in lifting weights very attractive myself i lift 355 lbs bench weigh in at 235 lbs 5'9" leg press 1800 lbs with my legs sqaut 1600 lbs...but as the other said start exercising and you will loose this upper weight chk it out online of body building of women
Reply:Go bra shopping on the Internet works for everyone else.....
Reply:lol! i am the total opposite from you! all my friend hav ebigger brest then me even my baby sister which is 17. everything cute is either a c or a d cup and im only a b.
Reply:Ha ha i know what you mean i have the same size bra its hard to find nice bras but i live in California so i dont really have the problem of not being able to find bras and i would suggest to maybe take a sewing class and edit the bras you have and make them look cute your self, otherwise i cant really think of any other suggestions i wish the same thing too that my boobs were smaller and I'm not really overweight either but anyways that's all i can think of, either that or you can go on a bra search through many different stores.
Reply:When I was your age I had the same problem.

I found that the only bras that were comfortable were the ones that I bought from a store that had sales assistants who measured me properly. The ones I had been buying were not the right size for me and didn't fit well, and of course didn't look good.

Once I got a couple of bras that had been fitted by a professional, they looked much better.

Good Luck!
Reply:if you got Internet you can have everything ship and some compagny even a free way to return it if it doesn't fit. Anyway good luck.
Reply:Order from Victoria's Secret online if you can.
