I recently moved back to the States so I need to make a lot of purchases as well as getting my Christmas shopping done. Is it a better idea to shop before Christmas or right after to get the best deals at department stores?

Many people shop after the holidays to save money. I shop way before they raise the prices for the holiday. I am finished before they do the sales. I notice quite often those sale items are not there when you go to get them. I prefer to shop when the isles are full of merchandise.
