Hotels and shopping in Beijing?

hey guys....im flying to beijing this November 1, 2007. Im a bit confused on what hotel shall I stay?? the Dong Chang An Hotel near in Silk Street or the Bonding Center Hotel in Wanfujung Street??? I need a hotel that has nice cheap shopping location and of course I go for the safety....... Which is the best shopping district in Beijing between the Silkstreet or Wanfujung ?? Are their stores open on November 1? And what time does their shops close and open???? Thanks a lot.... Hope someone can help me because NOv 1 is fast approaching.. thanks

Reply:For hotels, checkout www.sinohotels.com. as for the shopping places you mentioned, my advice stay in a hotel near the subway. all these places you mentioned can be accessed through the subway... the subway fees will be lowered to 2RMB from 3 RMB on 7th oct. So its pretty convenient. Most shops here opened 7 days a week... some operates as early as 9 am and closes at 9 - 10 pm. By the way, wangfujin and xidan areas are difficult to get a cab. Take note. There is also Ya show market if you want to get some clothings.... near sanlitun (pubbing area too)
Reply:actually, wanfujing street is not a cheap place to be shopping.but if u like genuine branded stuff, shop in wangfujing..silk street, if u prefer imitations.cheap shopping places are scattered all over beijing like fuchengmen, it's a five-floor building with lots and lots of tiangge..visit travelchinaguide.com it's quite informative.have a nice trip!

For shopping you better go to Xidan, only a few stops from Wangfujing by subway. But it depends on what you want to shop for. Landao is also not bad for shopping (a big electronics market that is better than Zhongguancun because they don't cheat as badly and the Yue Show market for clothes or the 2 Landao department stores that have reasonable prices).

Reply:Cheap shopping is on Xidan street. Wang Fu Jing is not cheap, more famous for night walking street and lots of food.





Hotels around Xidan are Huawei and Guangzhou.
